A Fact or Two

  1. Scott County - Elijah Craig, the Baptist Minister and Bourbon Distiller helped found Georgetown College.
  2. McCreary County - Was the last Kentucky County formed and has no incorporated cities.
  3. Whitley County - The University of the Cumberlands is the largest private university in the state.
  4. Bell County - The city of Middlesboro is the only city in the United States to be build inside a meteor crater.
  5. Knox County - The first Kentucky battle of the Civil War that saw deaths on both sides was fought in Barbourville.
  6. Rockcastle County - Was created from parts of Knox, Lincoln, Madison and Pulaski counties.
  7. Madison County - Bybee Pottery is the oldest pottery west of the Alleghenies.
